Girabola (Angola) (Campeonato Nacional de Futebol, Girabola) - Angola’s top-tier league competition organised under the Angolan Football Federation. Regulations: 16 clubs play a double round-robin home-and-away season, each team meets every opponent twice, a win is worth 3 points, a draw 1 and a loss 0, and the champion is the club with the most points. If clubs are level on points, tie-breakers are applied in sequence: head-to-head points, head-to-head goal difference, overall goal difference, number of wins, and if still required a play-off match is ordered with extra time and penalties. Relegation and promotion are typically operated between the top division and the second tier Gira Angola with three clubs going down and three coming up. Continental qualification is governed by CAF access for the season and the association nomination rules, and where an association holds an expanded allocation it typically sends the league champion and runners-up to the CAF Champions League and allocates CAF Confederation Cup places to the next league position and the domestic cup winner.
