2. Liga (Austria) - the second-tier professional club division in Austria operated under the Austrian Football Bundesliga. Regulations: the competition has 16 clubs playing a double round-robin home and away format, awarding 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. If teams are level on points, the ranking follows the Austrian tie-break sequence based primarily on head-to-head results among the tied teams (points, then goal difference, then goals scored), followed by head-to-head away goals and then overall goal difference. The top-placed club is promoted to the Bundesliga subject to meeting licensing requirements, and if the champion is not eligible or declines, the next eligible club that finishes no lower than 4th enters a two-leg promotion relegation playoff against the sporting relegated club from the Bundesliga, with extra time in the second leg and penalties if the aggregate score remains level. The clubs finishing 14th to 16th are relegated to the third-tier regional leagues (Regionalliga).
