Ligue A (Burundi) (Burundi Ligue A, also known as the Primus Ligue) - the top-tier club league in Burundi organised under the Football Federation of Burundi and part of CAF’s club competition system. Regulations: the competition is played as a league with 16 clubs in a double round-robin season home and away, awarding 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. If teams finish level on points, the federation’s competition regulations apply sporting tie-break criteria, including goal difference and other performance measures. At season end, the bottom-placed teams are relegated to Burundi’s Ligue B, with the number of relegation places set by the season regulations. The league champion qualifies for the CAF Champions League, while the CAF Confederation Cup berth is typically allocated via the national Burundian Cup, and if the same club holds multiple qualifying positions, the slot is reassigned according to the association’s rules.
