Primera B (Chile) (Primera B de Chile, Liga de Ascenso) - the second tier of Chilean professional club football, organized under the Chilean National Professional Football Association (ANFP). Regulations: the league features 16 clubs and is played over 30 matchdays in a double round-robin format, with each team playing every opponent home and away, awarding 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, and 0 for a loss. League positions are determined by ANFP tie-breakers in order: goal difference, number of wins, goals scored, away goals scored, fewer red cards, fewer yellow cards, then a draw of lots. The champion is the top club after the 30 rounds, and if teams are level on points in first place, a single deciding match is played, with penalties used to decide the winner if the match ends level. Promotion: the champion is promoted directly to the Primera División, and a second promotion place is awarded via a promotion playoff (Liguilla) contested by the teams finishing 2nd to 8th, played over two legs, with most rounds decided by penalties if level on points and goal difference after the second leg, while the final includes extra time and then penalties if required. Relegation: the bottom club is relegated to the Segunda División, and if teams are level on points in last place, a single deciding match is played and penalties are used if the match ends level. CONMEBOL qualification is not awarded by finishing positions in Primera B, and can only be achieved indirectly through Copa Chile or top-tier results.
