Cup (Colombia) (Copa Colombia, Copa BetPlay DIMAYOR) - Colombia’s domestic cup competition for professional clubs, organised by DIMAYOR with participation from the top and second divisions. Regulations: 36 clubs take part and the competition structure is approved for each season, under the current model the first stage is split into two branches, Stage 1A and Stage 1B, based on league performance and progression to the semi-final stages, in Stage 1A twenty teams are placed into four groups of five and each team plays four group matches with one bye round, with the top two in each group advancing, and ties on points in the group table are broken by goal difference, goals scored, away goals scored, fewer away goals conceded, then a draw of lots. In Stage 1B sixteen teams play eight home and away ties and the winners advance to the Round of 16, where they are joined by the eight qualifiers from Stage 1A, and the Round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final are played over two legs, with second-leg hosting set by the aggregate league table and tier status, and if a tie is level on aggregate it goes directly to a penalty shoot-out with no extra time. The winners qualify for the following season’s CONMEBOL Sudamericana subject to the country allocation rules.
