Primera A (Colombia) (Categoría Primera A, Liga BetPlay Dimayor) - the top professional club division in Colombia organised by DIMAYOR, in operation since 1948. Regulations: the season is split into two separate title tournaments - Apertura and Finalización, each played by 20 clubs, the first stage is a "todos contra todos" league of 20 matchdays including an extra clásico fixture, with 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, and ties on points are broken by goal difference, goals scored, away goals, fewer away goals conceded, then a draw of lots. The top 8 advance to the "cuadrangulares" semi-final stage, split into two groups of four playing home and away, the group winners meet in a two-legged final, and if the final is level on points it is decided by goal difference and then a penalty shoot-out in the second leg. Relegation is determined by an average-points relegation table based on first-stage matches across multiple recent seasons, with the bottom two relegated to Categoría Primera B. Copa Libertadores berths go to the Apertura and Finalización champions plus the next two best teams in the annual reclasificación table who have not already qualified as champions, Copa Sudamericana berths go to the Copa Colombia winner plus the next best teams in the reclasificación table with down-the-table reallocation when places overlap, and international participation is subject to CONMEBOL club licensing requirements.
