Costa Rica Super Cup (Supercopa de Costa Rica) - an official domestic super cup organised by UNAFUT as a trophy match linked to Costa Rica’s top-flight season. Regulations: it is played as a single match between the Apertura champion and the Clausura champion, over 90 minutes plus stoppage time, and if level the winner is typically decided by a penalty shootout with no extra time. If the same club wins both tournaments, the season procedure for selecting the opponent is set by the organiser and has in practice been based on the aggregate season table, and in some seasons the Super Cup has not been staged by organiser decision.
