

First League (Czech Republic) (Chance Liga, formerly Fortuna Liga) - the top professional club football division in the Czech Republic. Regulations: 16 clubs take part, the regular season is a double round-robin with each team playing 30 matches home and away, with 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, then the season continues with a three-group split with points carried over - the title group (places 1-6) plays a single round-robin within the group (5 additional matches), the placement play-offs (7-10) are played as two-legged knockouts with semi-finals 7 vs 10 and 8 vs 9 followed by a two-legged final, with the winner finishing 7th overall and receiving the competition’s defined bonuses, and the survival group (11-16) plays a single round-robin within the group (5 additional matches). Rankings on equal points follow the competition tie-breakers including head-to-head, and for the final positions in the title and survival groups an additional priority is given to the team with the better regular-season record, followed by head-to-head criteria, overall goal difference, goals scored, fair-play ranking and drawing of lots. At the end of the season the 16th-placed club is relegated to the second tier, the second-tier champions are promoted, and the clubs finishing 14th and 15th play two-legged relegation play-offs against the clubs finishing 2nd and 3rd in the second tier, if level on aggregate extra time and, if necessary, a penalty shoot-out are played at the end of the second leg, UEFA qualification is allocated via final league positions and the Czech Cup under the UEFA access list, subject to licensing requirements.
