

League Cup (Egypt) (Egyptian League Cup, Egypt Capital Cup) - an annual domestic cup competition for Egyptian professional clubs organized by the Egyptian Professional Football Clubs Association. Regulations: the competition is played in two stages - a group stage followed by knockout rounds, in the current regulations 21 clubs take part, teams are split into 3 groups of 7 and play a single round-robin within each group, with 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, the top two in each group and the two best third-placed teams advance to the knockout stage, with group ties broken by the regulations in the sequence goal difference, goals scored, away goals, disciplinary record, then drawing lots. The knockout stage is played as elimination ties, typically over two legs home and away up to the final, the final is a single match at a neutral venue, in two-legged ties level aggregates are decided by goal difference, then total goals, then away goals, and then a penalty shootout, while the final goes to extra time and, if needed, penalties, and the winner earns a place in the next Egyptian Super Cup.
