The English Super Cup (FA Community Shield, founded in 1908 and renamed in 2002) is the traditional season-opening match between the previous season’s Premier League champions and the current FA Cup holders. Regulations: it is a single 90-minute match on a date and at a venue set by the organiser, and if level after 90 minutes there is no extra time and the winner is decided by a penalty shootout. If the Premier League champions are also the FA Cup holders, the opponent is the Premier League runners-up or another club as determined by the organiser.
