

National League North (England) (National League North) - a regional Step 2 division within the National League System, the sixth tier of the English football pyramid under The Football Association jurisdiction and operated by The National League. Regulations: the competition is played as a 24 club league season in a double round-robin home and away format, with 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, and if teams are level on points the ranking is determined by the prescribed sequence of goal difference, then goals scored, then most wins, then head-to-head record, with further procedures available if teams remain level, including drawing of lots. The league champions are promoted to the National League, the second promotion place is decided via play-offs for clubs finishing 2nd to 7th, typically with 4th hosting 7th and 5th hosting 6th in eliminators, then 2nd and 3rd hosting the semi-finals, and all play-off ties are single-leg with extra time and penalties if level.
