Regulations: the competition is played as a 24 club league season in a double round robin home and away format, points are awarded 3 for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, and ties on points are separated by the competition sequence of goal difference, then total goals scored, then total wins, then head to head record, with further procedures available if teams remain level. The league champions are promoted to the National League, the second promotion place is decided via play-offs for clubs finishing 2nd to 7th, typically with 2nd and 3rd entering at the semi-final stage and 4th to 7th contesting eliminators, and drawn play-off ties are settled by extra time and penalties.
