

Meistaradeildin (Betri deildin menn, Faroe Islands Premier League) - the top-tier men’s club league in the Faroe Islands organised by the Faroe Islands Football Association and affiliated to UEFA. Regulations: the competition is played as a league with 10 clubs, teams meet each other three times, points are awarded 3 for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, and league positions on equal points are decided by head-to-head results, then goal difference and goals scored, with a further play-off match on a neutral venue with extra time and penalties possible where titles, European places or promotion and relegation outcomes must be determined. At the end of the season the clubs finishing 9th and 10th are relegated to 1. deild, promotion from 1. deild follows sporting merit subject to reserve-team eligibility rules, and a promotion play-off can be used when applicable. European qualification follows the association’s UEFA access list: the champion enters UEFA Champions League qualifying, while UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying places are allocated to the best-placed league teams and the domestic cup winner under the applicable rules.
