

The French League Cup (Coupe de la Ligue, founded in 1994) was a domestic knockout cup competition for professional clubs in France, organised by the Ligue de Football Professionnel. Regulations: it was played as a straight knockout with single-match ties, pairings decided by draw, and if level after 90 minutes extra time was played followed by penalties if required, with the final staged at a neutral venue. The winner earned a place in the UEFA Europa League and, if already qualified for Europe via the league, the berth was reallocated to the next highest-placed domestic league club not already qualified. The competition was suspended from the 2020/21 season and did not continue after the 2019/20 edition.
