GFA League (The Gambia) - the top-tier club league in The Gambia, organised under the Gambia Football Federation (GFF). Regulations: the competition is played as a league with 16 clubs in a double round-robin format, teams meet home and away, points are awarded as 3 for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, and final positions are determined by points, then goal difference and goals scored, with any further criteria defined in the seasonal regulations. The lowest-placed clubs are relegated to the GFA League Second Division, the league champion earns the right to represent The Gambia in the CAF Champions League, and the Gambian Cup (Gambian Cup) winner qualifies for the CAF Confederation Cup, with the Confederation Cup berth passing to the cup runner-up if the same club wins both the league and the cup.
