Oberliga - Bavaria South (Bayernliga Süd) - a fifth-tier league in the German football pyramid and one of the two Bayernliga divisions administered by the Bavarian Football Association (BFV). Regulations: the competition is played as a league in a single group with home-and-away fixtures, a win is worth 3 points, a draw 1 and a loss 0, and if teams are level on points the BFV ranking sequence applies: a team that forfeited a match with a 0-2 sports-court ruling is ranked below the tied teams, then the head-to-head aggregate over the two matches is used, followed by overall goal difference, goals scored, number of wins and total away goals, and if still level the position is decided by drawing lots. For three or more tied teams, a mini-table of their mutual matches is used first, including goal difference and goals scored within that mini-table, and if required the ranking reverts to overall season records with goal difference, goals scored and wins. Under the BFV’s official promotion and relegation framework, the division champion is typically eligible for promotion to Regionalliga Bayern subject to admission requirements, the runner-up typically enters promotion play-offs if admitted, while relegation can include direct relegation places plus relegation play-offs against clubs from the Bavarian Landesligen, with the exact allocation adjusted each season depending on the wider pyramid and any relegations from higher tiers. In two-legged play-offs, if aggregate is level extra time is played in the second leg followed by penalties if required.
