Oberliga Hamburg (Gamesright Oberliga Hamburg) - the top regional division of the Hamburg FA and one of Germany’s Oberligen within the league pyramid beneath the Regionalliga level, administered by the Hamburger Fußball-Verband (HFV). Regulations: the league is played in a single group, typically with 18 clubs, with a double round-robin format home and away, awarding 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, with final standings decided by goal difference, then goals scored, and if still fully level by a play-off match on neutral ground. The Hamburg champion is the city champion and, subject to licensing and admission, earns the right to represent Hamburg in the Norddeutscher Fußball-Verband (NFV) promotion process for Regionalliga Nord, with the spot passing to the next eligible and admitted club if the higher-placed club is not admitted or does not apply. Relegation is based on the bottom finishing places, with three clubs as the standard number going down to the Landesliga, while additional relegation can apply to keep the division at its prescribed size if extra teams drop into Hamburg from higher leagues.
