Oberliga Mittelrhein (Mittelrheinliga) is the top division of the Middle Rhine Football Association (Fußball-Verband Mittelrhein, FVM) within the German league system and the league whose champion earns the right to move up to Regionalliga West. Regulations: the competition features 16 teams in a double round-robin season (home and away), awarding 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. If teams are level on points, they are ranked by goal difference, then goals scored, then head-to-head record, and if a position still cannot be determined the applicable WDFV procedure is used to decide the final placing. The champion is entitled to promotion to Regionalliga West subject to admission requirements, and if the champion waives promotion or is not admitted the right passes sequentially to the next two teams in the table, with no further pass-down beyond that. Relegation is set by the season’s binding rotation table and typically ranges from three to five teams depending on whether an FVM club is promoted to Regionalliga West and how many FVM clubs drop from Regionalliga West, while the league is replenished from the Landesliga under the approved scheme.
