

NOFV-Oberliga Süd (Oberliga Süd) - a regional fifth-tier division in the German league system run by the North-East German FA (NOFV) and the southern section of the NOFV-Oberliga. Regulations: the competition is played as a league, typically with 16 teams in the section, each club plays every opponent home and away, wins are worth 3 points, draws 1, losses 0, and ties on points are broken using DFB criteria in order - goal difference, goals scored, the aggregate result of the two head-to-head matches, away goals in head-to-head matches, total away goals, and if still level a decider is played at a neutral venue. The section champion, or the next eligible and admitted club, gains sporting qualification for the Regionalliga Nordost subject to NOFV admission, while the number of relegated teams is set by the NOFV promotion and relegation scheme and depends on movements between the 3. Liga, the Regionalliga Nordost and the Oberliga as well as on how many eligible state champions are promoted, with the bottom team typically relegated to the relevant state association leagues.
