Oberliga promotion round (Aufstiegsrunde zur Regionalliga Nord) is a NordFV-run play-off competition used to determine two additional clubs promoted to Regionalliga Nord for the next season. Regulations: the participants are the best eligible and admitted club from Oberliga Bremen, Oberliga Hamburg and Oberliga Schleswig-Holstein plus the next best eligible and admitted club from Oberliga Niedersachsen, while separately the best eligible and admitted club from Oberliga Niedersachsen is promoted directly to Regionalliga Nord. The promotion round is played as a single round-robin points competition with four teams, each team plays three matches with one home game, one away game and one match at a neutral venue, awarding 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. The standings are decided by points, then goal difference, then goals scored and then the direct head-to-head result, and if teams are still level the competition uses penalty shootout results instead of drawing lots, with a shootout held after every match regardless of the match result and recorded as an auxiliary outcome. The top two clubs are promoted to Regionalliga Nord subject to admission, and the competition does not provide direct UEFA qualification.
