The German Supercup (Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, formerly the DFL-Supercup) is an annual season-opening match contested by the Bundesliga champions and the DFB-Pokal holders. Regulations: it is a one-off match and, if level after 90 minutes, there is no extra time and the winner is decided by a penalty shootout. If one club wins both the league and the cup, the opponent is the Bundesliga runners-up. The match is typically hosted by the cup holders, or by the Bundesliga runners-up in a double-winning scenario, with the organiser having the final say on the venue. From the 2025/26 season the competition is officially named the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.
