I-League (India) - India’s national second-tier professional club league under the All India Football Federation. Regulations: the competition is played as a home-and-away round-robin league, in the current model featuring 12 clubs, with 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. If teams finish level on points, ranking is determined by head-to-head points, head-to-head goal difference and head-to-head goals scored, then overall goal difference and overall goals scored, and finally by drawing of lots. Under the current system, the champions earn promotion to the Indian Super League subject to the applicable admission and licensing requirements, while relegation to I-League 2 is applied according to the season regulations. Qualification places for AFC club competitions are allocated by the federation by season and licensing criteria and may be tied to results in the I-League, the Super Cup and the Indian Super League.
