

Santosh Trophy (India) - India’s premier state team competition for senior men’s representative sides from state and union territory associations, with certain institutional teams, organised by the All India Football Federation. Regulations: the competition is played in two stages, a Group Stage and a Final Round, with the federation setting the seasonal entry list, grouping, seeding and qualification pathway, and some teams may be granted direct entry to the Final Round. In the Group Stage, teams play round-robin matches within groups, three points are awarded for a win, one for a draw and none for a loss, and if teams finish level on points the regulations apply tie-breakers in the sequence head-to-head points, head-to-head goal difference, head-to-head goals scored, then overall goal difference and overall goals scored, with additional procedures available in specific cases including penalties or drawing of lots. The Final Round is typically played via groups followed by knockouts, and in knockout ties a draw after normal time is decided by extra time of two 15-minute periods and then kicks from the penalty mark.
