Persian Gulf Pro League (Iran) (Iran Pro League) - Iran’s top-tier professional club league run under the Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran and the league organisation. Regulations: the league is contested by 16 clubs in a double round-robin format, each team plays every opponent home and away (30 matches), and points are awarded 3 for a win, 1 for a draw, and 0 for a loss. If teams are level on points, the ranking is decided by an ordered set of criteria: head-to-head points, head-to-head goal difference, overall goal difference, goals scored, and fair play points, with head-to-head criteria applied only once all relevant head-to-head matches have been completed. The bottom two clubs are relegated to the Azadegan League, and continental qualification follows Iran’s AFC slot allocation and licensing rules, providing 1 direct place in the AFC Champions League Elite, 1 place in the AFC Champions League Elite play-offs, and 1 direct place in the AFC Champions League Two, with domestic distribution set by season regulations and eligibility requirements.
