

Emperor's Cup (Japan) (JFA Japan Football Championship, Emperor's Cup) - Japan’s national knockout cup competition organized by the Japan Football Association, featuring professional J.League clubs and teams qualifying through regional and prefectural pathways, including amateur sides. Regulations: the competition is played as a single-elimination tournament, ties are decided in one match, and if level after 90 minutes, extra time is played followed by a penalty shoot-out if required. The main draw comprises 88 teams, top-tier clubs enter at a later stage, and the remaining slots are filled by prefectural winners and other qualified participants. The winner qualifies for the next AFC Champions League Elite subject to meeting the required club licensing criteria, and also earns the right to contest the Japanese Super Cup.
