Kuwait Super Cup (Arabic: كأس السوبر الكويتي) - an official season-opening trophy competition in Kuwait organised by the Kuwait Football Association (KFA). Regulations: the competition is played as single-match knockouts, and in its current version it is staged as a four-team mini-tournament featuring the Premier League champion and runner-up plus the winners of the Emir Cup and the Crown Prince Cup, with any vacant places passed down the league table when a club qualifies via more than one route. Each tie is a one-off match, and if level the winner is decided under the season rules, which have included straight penalties after 90 minutes in the traditional two-team version and extra time followed by penalties in the four-team version. The winner lifts the Super Cup trophy and is recognised as the first title holder of the season.
