Regulations: the format and number of participating clubs are approved for each season, the competition is played in two rounds as a double round-robin, with 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, and if teams are level on points the standings are decided by the sequence set out in the regulations - most wins, then head-to-head points, head-to-head goal difference, head-to-head goals scored, overall goal difference, overall goals scored, fewer red cards, fewer yellow cards, with lots used for complete ties outside positions 1-2, while a completely tied race for positions 1-2 can be decided by an additional match with extra time and penalties if required. Promotion and relegation between the Premier League and the National League are defined by the season regulations, and AFC club qualification places are determined by quota and licensing and are communicated before the season, with the champion typically earning a place in the AFC Challenge League.
