Latvian First League (Latvia) (Nākotnes līga) - the second tier of the Latvian club league system organised under the Latvian Football Federation. Regulations: the championship is played in a double round-robin format with teams meeting home and away, a win is worth 3 points, a draw 1, and a loss 0, and standings are determined by total points. If teams are level on points, the order is decided by points in head-to-head matches, then head-to-head goal difference, then overall goal difference in all matches, then total goals scored, then the Fair Play ranking, and if still level additional match(es) can be ordered by the organiser. Promotion and relegation: the 1st-placed team (excluding reserve teams) earns the right to play in the top division next season, the 2nd-placed team plays a two-leg play-off against the 9th-placed top-division team, and the teams finishing 13th and 14th are relegated to the second division, with final admission potentially subject to club licensing requirements. This competition does not award direct UEFA qualification places.
