Lithuanian First League (I Lyga, TOPsport I Lyga) - the second-tier club division in the Lithuanian football league system, organized under the Lithuanian Football Federation. Regulations: the competition is played as a league, typically with 16 teams in a double round-robin schedule (home and away), awarding 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, and level teams are ranked by tie-breakers defined in the season regulations, commonly applied in sequence via head-to-head results, then goal difference and goals scored, followed by additional federation criteria if required. On sporting merit, the champion is promoted to the A Lyga, while the runner-up typically enters a promotion play-off against the second-bottom A Lyga team, with final admission subject to licensing. The lowest teams are relegated to II Lyga, and a team just above the relegation places may contest a relegation play-off against a II Lyga side, with the exact pairings and details set by the season regulations. There is no direct UEFA club competition qualification from I Lyga and access is only possible after promotion to A Lyga or via the national cup.
