FA Cup (Malaysia) (Malaysia FA Cup, Piala FA, Piala FA Malaysia) - Malaysia’s domestic cup competition organised by the Malaysian Football League. Regulations: the format is set for each season, the current model features 16 clubs, typically drawn from the top division and selected teams from the tier below, and the knockout rounds are played as elimination ties, where the round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals may be staged over two legs home and away, with the final played as a single match. In two-legged ties the winner is decided on aggregate goals, and if level on aggregate extra time is played in the second leg followed by a penalty shoot-out if required, with no away goals rule applied. The winner earns Malaysia’s cup-based place in the AFC Champions League Two subject to association allocation and licensing, and if the winner has already qualified for a higher competition via the league, the place is reallocated under the season’s access rules.
