Cup (Mexico) (Copa MX, formerly Copa México) - Mexico’s domestic cup competition for clubs from the top two levels, organised under the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) and in recent years suspended and not held. Regulations: the competition format has changed multiple times, and in the most common modern version it combined a group stage with a knockout phase, with extra time and then a penalty shoot-out used if required in knockout matches, while seeding and home advantage rules were set by the organisers. The winners earned a CONCACAF club competition place via the domestic cup allocation, previously the CONCACAF Champions League and now the CONCACAF Champions Cup, subject to eligibility and licensing requirements.
