Moldovan Liga 1 (Moldova) (Liga 1) - the second tier of professional club football in Moldova organised under the Football Association of Moldova. Regulations: the competition is played as a league, typically featuring 12 clubs that play a double round-robin schedule home and away, with teams earning 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. If clubs finish level on points, positions are decided by overall goal difference, then goals scored, then head-to-head records and other criteria as defined in the season’s regulations. At the end of the season, the top teams earn promotion to the National Division (Moldovan top flight) subject to meeting the licensing requirements of the Football Association of Moldova and club licensing. Teams in the lower part of the table are relegated to Liga 2 based on the promotion/relegation rules set for the season, and the division does not allocate direct UEFA competition places.
