

NPFL (Nigeria) (Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL) - Nigeria’s top professional men’s club league run under the national football authorities and the league administration. Regulations: 20 clubs compete in a double round-robin where each team plays every other team twice, home and away, with three points for a win, one for a draw and none for a loss. If teams are level on points, positions are decided by goal difference, goals scored, then goals conceded, followed by head-to-head criteria based on points, head-to-head goal difference and head-to-head goals scored, and if the championship, relegation places or continental qualification still cannot be determined, deciding match or matches are played on neutral grounds with extra time and penalties when required. The bottom four clubs are relegated to the second tier and the top four clubs from the second tier are promoted, while Nigeria’s CAF inter-club representatives are selected in order of final league standings subject to the country allocation.
