División Profesional - Apertura (Paraguay) (División de Honor, Copa de Primera - Torneo Apertura) - one of the two annual championships of Paraguay’s top-tier professional club league organised by the Paraguayan Football Association. Regulations: the tournament features 12 clubs and is played as a double round-robin where each team meets every opponent home and away, for 22 matchdays, with 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, and the champion is the club with the most points. If two clubs are level on points, tie-breakers are applied in this order head-to-head points, head-to-head goal difference, overall goal difference, goals scored, then an additional match at a neutral venue, and if three or more clubs are level a head-to-head mini-table is used first, then overall goal difference and goals scored, with a draw of lots as the final option. Relegation is determined by a points-per-game average calculated as total points from the current year plus the two previous years divided by matches played or due to be played, with no rounding and with additional tie-deciding matches excluded from the calculation. International qualification for CONMEBOL competitions is set by the seasonal regulations and typically combines priority berths for the Apertura and Clausura champions, allocation via the full-year aggregate table across 44 matchdays, and a dedicated slot linked to the Copa Paraguay winner, subject to CONMEBOL eligibility requirements.
