División Profesional - Clausura (Paraguay) (División Profesional - Torneo Clausura, Copa de Primera - Clausura) - one of the two annual championships of Paraguay’s top-tier professional club league organised by the Paraguayan Football Association. Regulations: the tournament is played as a league competition with 12 clubs in a double round-robin home-and-away schedule over 22 matchdays, with 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, and the champion is the club with the most points. If two clubs are level on points, tie-breakers are applied in this order head-to-head points, head-to-head goal difference, overall goal difference, goals scored, then an additional match at a neutral venue, and if three or more clubs are level the same criteria are used but the final option is a draw of lots. Relegation is determined by a points-per-game average table calculated over the current season and the two previous seasons, with the two lowest averages relegated to División Intermedia. International qualification for CONMEBOL competitions is allocated under association rules, typically including the Clausura champion and places via the combined season table across Apertura and Clausura, and an additional berth may be granted via Copa Paraguay, while Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana entrants generally must belong to the top division with an exception for the Copa Paraguay champion.
