

Ekstraklasa (Poland) (formed in 1926 with the first season played in 1927) - the top professional club division in Poland, organised by Ekstraklasa (Ekstraklasa) with the Polish Football Association (PZPN). Regulations: 18 clubs play a double round-robin season, each team plays 34 matches home and away, with 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, league positions are decided by points and, if level, by head-to-head criteria (points and head-to-head goal difference), then overall goal difference, goals scored, total wins, away wins, disciplinary points and fair-play ranking, with a drawing of lots if required, and head-to-head criteria are applied only once all head-to-head matches have been played. At the end of the season the bottom three clubs are relegated to the I liga and are replaced by the top two clubs from the I liga plus the promotion play-off winner. UEFA club competition qualification is allocated as follows: the champions enter UEFA Champions League qualifying, the Polish Cup winners enter UEFA Europa League qualifying, and the next best league teams enter UEFA Conference League qualifying, with places passed down the league table if a slot is already taken via another route.
