Second Division (Qatar)

Second Division (Qatar) (Second Division League) - the second tier of Qatar’s national club league system run under the Qatar Football Association (QFA). Regulations: the competition is played as a double round-robin league with home and away matches, teams receive 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. The champion is promoted to the Doha Bank Stars League, while the second-placed team plays a promotion and relegation playoff against the 11th-placed team from the Doha Bank Stars League, and if the match is drawn extra time of 30 minutes is played followed by penalties if required. If teams are level on points in the race for first place, ranking is decided by head-to-head goal difference between the tied teams, then overall goal difference, then goals scored, then most wins, and if still level an additional playoff match is played. In all other ties on points, ranking is decided by overall goal difference, then goals scored, then head-to-head goal difference, then most wins, then fair play points based on cards and finally a drawing of lots, with a yellow card counted as 1 point, a red card as 3, and a second-yellow dismissal counted as 4.
