The Saudi Pro League (Saudi Pro League, title-sponsored as the Roshn Saudi League) is the top level of professional club football in Saudi Arabia, with its historical roots dating back to 1957. Tournament regulations: 18 clubs compete in a league format over 34 matchweeks, with each club playing every other club twice, home and away (17 home and 17 away matches). Teams receive 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, and the champion is the club with the most points. If teams finish level on points, final placings are decided primarily by head-to-head criteria (head-to-head points, then head-to-head goal difference, then head-to-head goals scored, with no away-goals advantage), then by overall goal difference and overall goals scored. If the tie remains between two clubs who play each other in the final round, extra time and, if required, penalty kicks are used to produce a winner in that match, otherwise disciplinary points are applied as the next criterion, and if equality still persists a knockout play-off match or matches may be scheduled at a neutral venue as determined by the league. The bottom three clubs are relegated to the Saudi First Division League and the top three from the First Division are promoted for the following season.
