Second League (Slovakia) (2. Liga) - the second-tier professional club competition in Slovakia governed by the Slovak Football Association (SFZ). Regulations: the competition is played as a league with a double round-robin schedule (home and away), teams receive 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss, and if teams are level on points the SFZ ranking criteria apply in sequence, starting with head-to-head points and head-to-head goal difference, then overall goal difference and goals scored, followed by additional win and draw indicators including away records; the champion earns promotion eligibility to the Niké liga subject to licensing and entry requirements, while the runner-up plays a two-legged relegation-promotion play-off against the 11th-placed Niké liga club, with no away-goals rule and extra time plus penalties in the second leg if the aggregate score is level. Relegation to the lower tier is governed by SFZ rules and the season regulations: at minimum the bottom team is relegated, and any additional relegation spots depend on movement between divisions, while there is no direct European qualification from this league and access may only occur via the Slovak national cup (Slovnaft Cup) or other general qualification routes.
