K League 2 (South Korea) - the second tier of professional club football in the South Korean league system, organized by the Korea Professional Football League (K League) under the AFC confederation. Regulations: the competition is played as a league, with the number of clubs and the scheduling model set for each season, and teams play each other multiple times, awarding three points for a win, one for a draw and none for a loss. If teams are level on points, positions are decided by the league’s stated tie-break sequence, starting with total goals scored, then goal difference, then total wins, followed by head-to-head metrics and disciplinary penalty points. Promotion to K League 1 and relegation from the division are season-specific: typically the champion is promoted automatically, while additional promotion places are decided via the K League 2 playoffs and promotion-relegation ties against lower-ranked K League 1 teams, with single-leg rounds favoring the higher-ranked league finisher if level after 90 minutes, and promotion-relegation ties played over two legs with no away goals and extra time and penalties if the aggregate score remains level. There is no direct qualification to international club competitions from K League 2, it becomes possible only after promotion to the top division and meeting licensing requirements.
