The Copa del Rey (Spain) (founded in 1903) is Spain’s main domestic knockout cup competition organised by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. Regulations: in the 2025/26 season 126 clubs take part and the tournament is played over seven knockout rounds plus the final, with most rounds decided in a single match, while the preliminary round and the semi-finals are two-legged ties played home and away, and draws may be arranged with geographical proximity in mind, with the lower-division club hosting where possible. In single-match rounds, if level after 90 minutes there is 30 minutes of extra time and, if still level, a penalty shootout, while in two-legged ties the winner is decided on aggregate and, if still level, extra time and penalties decide it, with no away-goals rule. The winner typically qualifies for the UEFA Europa League in the following season, both finalists qualify for the Spanish Super Cup, and the final is staged on the date and at the venue set by the federation.
