

Federation Cup (Spain) (Copa Federación, RFEF Cup) - a national knockout competition organised by the Royal Spanish Football Federation for clubs not taking part in the Copa del Rey, with reserve teams not eligible. Regulations: the tournament has two stages - a regional qualifying stage run by the regional federations under their own rules and calendar, and a national stage; the national stage features 32 clubs, with 20 places coming from the regional stage (subject to territorial quotas) and the remaining places allocated on sporting merit to eligible clubs from Segunda Federación and Tercera Federación that have not qualified for the Copa del Rey; the national stage is played as a knockout across four rounds and a Final, all ties are single-leg and pairings are determined by draw, if level after 90 minutes extra time (30 minutes) is played and, if still level, a penalty shoot-out decides the winner; as a sporting consequence, the semi-finalists earn the right to take part in the Copa del Rey.
