Allsvenskan (Sweden) (Fotbollsallsvenskan) - the top professional club football division in Sweden. Regulations: 16 clubs take part, the season usually runs from late March or early April to early November in a double round-robin format, with each team playing 30 matches, home and away against every opponent. Three points are awarded for a win, one for a draw and none for a loss. Teams are ranked by points, then goal difference and goals scored, then by head-to-head results, and if head-to-head figures remain level, away goals in head-to-head matches are applied with a higher weighting, with a further play-off match at a neutral venue possible where the title or promotion or relegation places are at stake. At the end of the season, the teams finishing 15th-16th are relegated to Superettan, while the 14th-placed team plays a two-legged promotion-relegation play-off home and away against the team finishing 3rd in Superettan, with the winner decided on aggregate goals and, if still level after the second leg, extra time and then a penalty shoot-out. UEFA competition qualification is allocated via the final league table and the Swedish Cup (Svenska Cupen): the champions enter UEFA Champions League qualifying, the cup winners enter UEFA Europa League qualifying, the next highest league finishers enter UEFA Conference League qualifying, and if the cup winners have already qualified via the league, the European place is passed down the league table.
