Tanzanian Premier League (Ligi Kuu Tanzania Bara, NBC Premier League) - the top tier of mainland Tanzania club football, run by the Tanzania Premier League Board under the Tanzania Football Federation. Regulations: 16 teams play a double round-robin league with home and away matches, a win gives 3 points, a draw 1 and a loss 0, and if teams are level on points they are ranked by head-to-head aggregate record, then overall goal difference, then goals scored, then fewer goals conceded, then more away wins, then better disciplinary record based on cards, and if still level a one-off match is played at a venue selected by the league. The teams finishing 15th and 16th are relegated directly to the Championship, while the teams finishing 13th and 14th play two-legged playoffs, if tied on aggregate away goals apply and if still tied the winner is decided by penalties, the winner stays up and the loser plays a further playoff round against the Championship playoff winner. CAF qualification follows the association allocation and replacement rules: the champion qualifies for the CAF Champions League, and Confederation Cup places are assigned via the federation cup winner and league finishers, while when four CAF slots apply the champion and runner-up qualify for the CAF Champions League and the federation cup winner plus the 3rd-placed league team qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup.
