Thai League 1 (Thailand) (Thai League 1) - the top tier of professional club football in Thailand under the Football Association of Thailand. Regulations: the competition is a league format, typically with 16 clubs playing a double round-robin home and away, with points awarded 3-1-0. If teams finish level on points, places are decided by an ordered set of criteria led by head-to-head results, then overall goal difference and goals scored, and if teams are still level they may be deemed to share the same position, while ties that decide the championship, relegation, or qualification places are resolved by a play-off match at a neutral venue. The three bottom teams are relegated to Thai League 2 and are replaced by three promoted clubs from the second tier. Continental qualification is governed by Thailand’s AFC slot allocation and club licensing, in practice distributing berths across top domestic positions for the AFC Champions League Elite and AFC Champions League Two.
