The Ukrainian Cup is Ukraine’s national knockout cup competition organised by the Ukrainian Association of Football. Regulations: clubs from the top and professional tiers participate alongside eligible amateur and regional-association representatives, the tournament is played as single-match ties and consists of a qualification round followed by the round of 32, round of 16, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final, with pairings determined by a draw and a regional principle possible at the qualification stage. In qualification the home team is decided by the draw, in the round of 32 and round of 16 the lower-league club hosts, and if the clubs are from the same league the home team is determined by the draw, with later rounds also assigning the home team via the draw. If level after 90 minutes, ties are decided by a penalty shoot-out in all rounds except the final, while the final has extra time of two 15-minute periods and then penalties if needed. The winners receive Ukraine’s domestic-cup berth in the UEFA Europa League for the next season, and if the cup winners have already qualified for Europe via the league the cup-winner berth is reallocated to the highest-placed league club not yet qualified for European competition.
