In two-legged rounds the qualifier is determined by the outcomes of both matches, and if the tie remains level after 90 minutes in the second leg there is no extra time and the winner is decided by a penalty shootout, with the Final also going straight to penalties if level after 90 minutes. AFC club competition qualification for UAE clubs is determined by the AFC slot allocation and domestic criteria and is not automatically guaranteed by winning the League Cup.
