

Primera División - Apertura (Uruguay) (Torneo Apertura) - the opening stage of the Uruguayan top-flight season, played as a single round-robin among 16 clubs, with each team playing 15 matches and earning 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. Regulations: if teams are level on points, official standings are determined under the general regulations (Article 62) by goal difference, then goals scored, then head-to-head results, and then drawing of lots, the champion is the club with the most points after 15 rounds, if two clubs are level at the top a decider match is played, and if three or more clubs are level at the top the Article 62 ordering is applied first and then a final match is played between the top two. Points from the Apertura count toward the season aggregate table and are also used for relegation calculations based on the average points per game over the two most recent seasons, and the Apertura winner feeds into the later season championship definition via a play-off stage against the Clausura winner and subsequent finals as set out in the season regulations.
