USL Championship (United States) (USL Championship) - a Division II professional men’s league in the United States operated by the United Soccer League and sanctioned by the U.S. Soccer Federation. Regulations: the regular season is organized by two conferences, the schedule and club membership are set for each edition, and teams receive 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. If teams finish level on points, the league applies its tie-break sequence: head-to-head points, head-to-head goal differential, total wins, overall goal differential, goals scored, disciplinary points, then a lottery. At the end of the regular season, the top teams from each conference qualify for the playoffs in a fixed bracket, played as single-elimination matches, and if level after 90 minutes the tie is decided by two 15-minute extra-time periods followed by penalties if required. Promotion and relegation are not used, and any domestic cup access or international qualification is governed by separate competition rules rather than by a direct league berth.
