Primera Division (Venezuela) (Liga FUTVE) - Venezuela’s top professional club league, run by the Liga FUTVE under the supervision of the Venezuelan Football Federation. Regulations: the season is played as two short tournaments, Apertura and Clausura, using the same structure, the regular stage is a single round-robin of 13 matchdays with the 3-1-0 points system, and the top eight advance to the final stage where they are split into two groups of four and play six matchdays home and away, with the group winners meeting in a single-match final hosted by the higher-placed team from the regular stage. If teams are level on points, the league applies its tie-break criteria, including goal difference, goals scored, then head-to-head performance, with a public draw as a last resort. If Apertura and Clausura have different winners, they play a two-legged season final, and if the same club wins both tournaments it is declared the overall champion. International qualification is allocated via the aggregate table across both tournaments, with berths to the CONMEBOL Libertadores and CONMEBOL Sudamericana awarded according to final positions and the season champions and runners-up, and relegation is assigned to the bottom club in the aggregate table.
